Hidden Oaks, a premier dressage facility located near Kansas City in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, is owned and operated by Marina Parris-Woodhead and her husband, David who shares her passion for dressage. Marina, FEI trainer and competitor, USDF “L” Judge Program Graduate, and USDF Bronze Medallist, began her riding career at the age of 4, training and competing many types of horses through many different disciplines, finally turning to the benefits of dressage training in 1982. Believing in the necessity of continuing education, Marina has trained with Michelle Gibson, Olympic Bronze Medallist and currently furthers her dressage education with Christopher Hickey, USDF Gold Medallist, 4th Level Certified Instructor and Faculty Member, and longtime student of Conrad Schumacher. Marina trains in Florida during the winter season in addition to the monthly clinics hosted by Hidden Oaks. With extensive competition experience, both Marina and David enjoy successful competition records and national standings

Marina utilizes the Conrad Schumacher Methodology of classical exercises and a positive approach to specialize in creating harmonious horse and rider combinations. Her empathetic communication skills enhance the trainer/horse/rider connection to provide a confident, fun and rewarding educational experience. As the mother of three children, she is very encouraging with young riders.

Marina’s students enjoy success not only in competition, but also in the renewed spirit and deeper understanding
of their partner – their horse.

“It is rare to find a clinician that is so committed to her students. Marina Parris-Woodhead possesses not only the knowledge and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor; she also supports her students at every level and encourages them to succeed. Marina was instrumental in helping me achieve my goal of earning my USDF bronze medal.”

“Marina assisted me in finding my dreamhorse – the 4th Level Competetive Schoolmistress, Mariah. In addition, I had the opportunity to ride with Marina at the Winterwood Farm clinic. Not only did I gain helpful knowledge from my lessons, which I have been able to implement on my own, but I also had the opportunity to watch the other lessons and saw a significant difference made in every horse/rider combination whatever their level. Marina is truly a kind and effective teacher, who is able to tailor each lesson and its exercises to meet the needs of the horse and the rider. She is truly one of the best instructors I’ve ridden with, and for the price – an excellent value.” Kristin Grosso, NY
